Karlad Lake

A natural freshwater lake located around 8 KMS from Vythiri and 3 KMS away from Banasura Sagar Dam in Wayanad, Karlad Lake is also home to Wayanad Adventure offering a wide range of activities for the adventure enthusiasts out there including Kayaking, Zipline, Rock climbing, Boating, Nature walk and Bamboo rafting.

Pookode Lake

Yet another natural freshwater lake surrounded by evergreen forest and rolling hills is the Pookode Lake. Lakes high in the mountain have a different feel and attraction to them, same as beaches which keep you wanting to hop from one to another. Pookode Lake also features a freshwater aquarium with a large variety of fish. Travellers can also enjoy boating,cycling, children’s park, and a shopping centre for indigenous handicrafts and spices.

Kanthanpara Waterfalls

Wayanad is a land of waterfalls with many small and large ones making their presence felt adding to the ethereal beauty of this place. One among them is the quaint little waterfall of Kanthanpara, famous for its secluded and serene atmosphere. The cool, sparkling waters is nothing short of an SPA indulgence. The enshrouding beautiful greenery makes it worth spending a day picnicking as you indulge in some lovely shinrin yoku in the Wester Ghats. For the more active ones, one can go river hiking, bathing and bird-watching here.

Edakkal Caves

Wayanad offers a portal to time travel too! Not just from the perspective of ancient pristine forests but through the history of mankind. A trip to Edakkal Caves is a journey into our forgotten past. Located 10 kms from Sulthan Bathery, the Edakkal Caves are a treasure trove of history speaking volumes of life in the ancient, prehistoric times. The caves itself is possibly formed by splitting of a large rock to form two natural rock formations. Filled with extremely beautiful carvings on the inside walls, A trek up the majestic Ambukuthi Hills is required to reach the Edakkal caves. Serenaded by verdant estates on all sides, the aroma of coffee stays with you the entire way possibly awakening you to the wonders of ancient history.

Wayanad Heritage Museum

One of the best-maintained museums in Kerala, the Ambalavayal Heritage Museum is home to a rich collection of artefacts, a testimony perhaps of an advanced civilisation that existed in the mountains of Wayanad. On display in the museum include many stone weapons, stone carvings, sculptures from the 14th to 16th-century, potteries of the Megalithic Age, hunting equipment, clay sculptures and other interesting artefacts. Idols, venerated by the ancient people of Wayanad, made of hard and soft rocks will capture your attention and appreciation as you make your way through the museum.

Kuruva Island

Kuruvadweep or Kuruva Island comprises a cluster of islets in the middle of Kabini River in Wayanad. A popular way to get here is the boat ride, especially on crafted bamboo rafts. With diverse flora and fauna on its 950 acres span, these islands contain two small freshwater lakes. Being away from human settlements and intrusions, they are also a known safe haven for migratory birds along with hornbills, parrots and many butterfly species.
A nature lovers paradise. Kuruva islands also offer trekking enthusiasts some of the most beautiful and natural trails here. Gigantic ancient trees on the riverfront are perfect for a relaxing afternoon picnic. A network of streams that surround the Kuruva island is ideal for a boat ride or rafting indulging in the beauty of the island.

Priyadarshini Tea Environs

Priyadarshini Tea Environs is a verdant tea estate in the heart of Wayanad about 37km from Grassroots Wayanad, your glamping resort in Wayanad. It also showcases a tea factory, tea museum and forest reserve all rolled into one wonderful experience. Apart from the beautiful locale, Priyadarshini Tea Environs is also a heartwarming social experiment that has been rehabilitating bonded tribal labourers particularly from the Paniyar tribes. A walk around here is all about tea as you soak in the elixir that has ruled the world for centuries.
The Vishwas Point Trek takes you to the highest point in Priyadarshini. It is a very popular trekking route with a natural pond, amphitheater and herb gardens along the way. Priyadarshini also has its own Organic farm and the produce is available at their poly houses. One can indulge in ethnic delicacies prepared by the friendly natives post an invigorating trek.

Banasurasagar Dam

The largest earthen dam in India, the Banasurasagar Dam is a commemorative effort of the Indian Banasurasagar Project, It currently supplies water and acts as an important catchment area during heavy monsoons.
