Birdwatching in Wayanad

WHERE THE WILD LIVES

Winged Paradise.

The Western Ghats have forever been a haven to avifauna. Nearly 300 species of resident, endemic and migratory birds live within these hills. As you wake up in the mornings, you'll be greeted by the Malabar Whistling Thrush's beautiful song that gives it the title of Whistling Schoolboy. The plaintive laugh of the Malabar Grey Hornbill echoes through the plantations as a pair flies from one tree to another in search of fruits. Near the waters, Egrets and Pond Herons will be busy waiting for fish or small crabs to cross their path. And high above the forest canopy, a serpent eagle or Booted Eagle will be circling, waiting for any signs of movement in the forest.
